CORONAVIRUS TEMPORARY LEAVE POLICY

________

Date: ________

(1) At ________ (the "Employer"), our first priority is the health and wellbeing of our staff and of those around us.

(2) We have been following the recent COVID-19 outbreak and we believe strongly in following all recommendations issued by health authorities in order to keep our workforce safe and healthy and prevent the further proliferation and transmission of the COVID-19 virus.

(3) We are therefore implementing this COVID-19 Temporary Leave Policy (the "Policy"). Here, we'll outline how we'll be temporarily changing our leave policies to help employees in getting through this difficult time. This Policy is intended to serve as a guide and does not create any contractual obligation on any party.

(4) Initially, all of our staff will be moving to a work from home arrangement.

(5) These changes will be effective as of ________.

(6) Additionally, we will be implementing the following temporary leave policies:

(a) Employees who are sick with COVID-19 or are displaying symptoms similar to those infected by COVID-19 are encouraged to stay home. Any time taken in this regard will not be used against the employee's accrued paid time off.

(b) If an employee needs to care for a sick relative, we encourage direct and open communication with your supervisor. Any time taken in this regard will not be used against the employee's accrued paid time off.

(c) We want to ensure employees feel supported and are therefore open to any further discussions needed regarding individual circumstances. We are also allowing for an additional paid time period to take off in case of COVID-19 illness. The time period is as follows: ________.

(d) Please speak to your supervisor as needed for any other concerns.

(7) We would also like to take the opportunity to remind you that both the World Health Organisation ("WHO") and the Australian Government's Department of Health ("Department of Health") provide some useful guidance regarding how we can all do our part to stop the spread of COVID-19. This includes the following:

(a) Cover your coughs and sneezes with your elbow or a tissue. Do not cough or sneeze into your hands.

(b) Dispose of tissues properly.

(c) Wash your hands regularly with soap and water or alcohol-based hand rub for at least 20 seconds.

(d) Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.

(e) Use alcohol-based hand sanitisers.

(f) Clean and disinfect surfaces such as tables, benches and doorknobs, as well as frequently used objects such as mobile phones, keys and wallets.

(g) Avoid handshaking and other physical greetings.

(h) Increase your exposure to fresh air by opening windows or adjusting air conditioning.

(i) Consider what travel and outings are necessary. Avoid unnecessary outings, for example, by shopping online when possible. Avoid confined spaces, for example by going to open places such as parks.

(j) Suspend all non-essential travel.

(k) Practice social distancing. Remain at least 1 metre (3 feet) away from others in public as much as possible.

(l) Consider if large gatherings can be rescheduled, staggered or cancelled.

(m) Hold meetings via video conferencing or phone call.

(n) If you are feeling sick, please refrain from venturing out in public, where you may put others at risk.

(8) We will be paying close attention to the expert advice on this matter, in particular, that which is published by the WHO and the Department of Health, and we encourage all employees to do the same.

(11) This Policy may be terminated as the risk of COVID-19 lessens, in our discretion. At that time, you will be notified.
