An Announcement of Meeting for Flexible Work Arrangements for COVID-19/Coronavirus is a document that can be used by employers, Human Resource personnel, or other persons who will call a meeting regarding changes in the work schedules due to the COVID-19 or coronavirus.

This document can be used either to announce flexible work arrangements or the temporary closure of the employer. In either case, it is important to consult employees regarding the changes. This document can be used to set up a meeting for said consultation.

Flexible work arrangements are work arrangements or schedules that are different from the traditional work schedule of the employee or within the employer's organization. Temporary closure, on the other hand, should not exceed 6 months. Both measures are temporary in nature, taking into consideration the prevailing conditions of the company and the directives of both the local and national government.

If implemented, employers should keep and maintain documentary proof that the flexible work arrangements were adopted. The employer should also post a copy of Labor Advisory No. 9, Series of 2020 in a conspicuous location in the workplace and notify the Department of Labor and Employment through the Regional/Provincial/Field Office which has jurisdiction over the workplace of the adoption of the flexible work arrangements at least 1 week prior to the implementation of the flexible work arrangements or at least 30 calendar days prior to the effectivity of the temporary closure.

Applicable law

The Labor Code of the Philippines is the general law that governs employment in the Philippines. However, as a remedial measure to the COVID-19/Coronavirus, the Department of Labor Employment passed specific guidelines for the implementation of flexible work arrangements, specifically Labor Advisory No. 9, Series of 2020 and Labor Advisory No. 11, Series of 2020, among others.
