A Celebrity Appearance Agreement is a document used by a client who wants to hire talent to make an appearance or give a performance at their event. Generally, this kind of contract is used any time an entertainer or celebrity, like a musician, comedian, or another type of performer will be appearing at a private or commercial event. Common events that might require the use of a Celebrity Appearance Agreement include a book signing, a wedding, a concert, a corporate event such as a company party, or a family reunion.

A Celebrity Performance Agreement can be used by individuals and businesses, such as venues and event managers, to set out the terms and conditions of the talent's performance. These contracts can also be used by the talent themselves or a business in charge of managing the talent's career and appearances. For example, a bride and groom, or a wedding planner, could use a Celebrity Appearance Agreement to contract with their favorite singer to come to sing at their wedding and then sign autographs at the reception.

Using a Celebrity Appearance Agreement is useful for all parties involved because it protects everyone's interests in terms of scheduling the performance and managing any mishaps, such as cancellations, accidents, illnesses, or any other unforeseen events. Often, individuals enter into business relationships without having all of the details of the parties' relationship with each other written down. By discussing the specifics of the Agreement ahead of time, both the client and the talent can make sure that their needs and wishes about the performance are known and honored.

This document is a general-purpose entertainment agreement and can be used for any type of entertainer. However, more specific service contracts, such as a DJ Agreement, are also available. This website also has a General Purpose Service Agreement that can be used to contract for other, non-entertainment-related services.

How to use this document

This document covers all of the important information necessary for an individual or business planning an event to enter into a business relationship with an entertainer who they would like to make an appearance at their event, including the following details:

  • Pertinent identifying information for all involved parties
  • Specifics of what the appearance will entail, including the number of events and their dates and times, the venue location, and details about the performance itself
  • Designation of responsibility for providing the equipment necessary for the talent to satisfactorily perform at the appearance
  • Outlining which, if any, of the talent's expenses related to their appearance the client will cover, such as transportation, hotels, and airfare
  • Amount of compensation the talent will receive, such as a flat fee, a percentage of gross ticket sales, some combination of both, or another form of compensation entirely
  • Details about when and how the Agreement will be terminated or the appearance canceled

The client and the talent can discuss the terms of the Agreement and create and sign the final Agreement prior to the appearance taking place. After inputting the required information, this Agreement is printed out and signed by both Parties, and then kept on file by both parties for the duration of the Agreement as well as for a reasonable period of time thereafter.

Applicable law

All Service Agreements are subject to both federal and state laws that cover general contract principles governing how contracts are created and interpreted by courts. Federal laws may restrict what services can be contracted for (for example, illegal services may not be contracted for) and certain broad categories, like contracting for something that looks more like an employment relationship, but individual state laws may govern the interpretation of the contract in case of a dispute.
