How to use this document
The letter should be signed by the parent or guardian of the child/children and sent to the principal or another relevant person at the school. The parent/guardian can then wait for a response from the school.
The parent/guardian also has the option to attach any relevant information with this letter (such as a medical certificate or a copy of their travel itinerary).
The parent/guardian may also choose to include a message within the letter inviting the school to be in contact in relation to any learning activities or homework that the child should undertake during the period of absence.
If no response is received, or the request is urgent, the letter may be followed up with a phone call to the school to confirm receipt and ask that a response be provided urgently.
