This sample statement allows an employer to easily ensure that its employees are familiar with the health measures implemented in their workplace to prevent the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.

In response to the spread of Covid-19, the government of Canada is taking all necessary measures to flatten the contagion curve.

By signing this statement, the employee undertakes to comply with the health and safety instructions and regulations that have been communicated to him/her.


Employer and Employee Health and Safety Obligations

The employer has a legal obligation to protect the Health and Safety of its employees and to take all necessary measures to do so. Specifically, the employer must identify, control and eliminate dangers to its employees in the workplace.

That being said, employees must also take the necessary measure to protect their own health and safety as well as the health and safety of their co-workers.

In order to better control the spread of Covid-19 in the workplace, it is essential that employers and employees remain informed. Employers can also remind their employees of existing policies regarding sick leave, paid vacations, and teleworking.
