This document is used when someone, called a private tutor, will provide extra lessons or tutorials to the student. Some people need tutorials for different subjects or topics.
For example, a law undergraduate might need extra lessons outside their regular school hours to prepare for tests or exams. Other times, a person might not be a student at any institution but require tutorials to gain skills in a desired subject. For example, a person can hire a tutor to teach them English or French to gain language proficiency.
Note that the document will be signed by the parent/guardian of the student if the student is a minor (someone below the age of 18). However, if the student receiving the tutorial is 18 years and above, they can sign this agreement. This is because some private lessons are designed for primary and secondary students who have not attained the age of 18.
Under this agreement, the student will receive lessons on their desired course or subjects, and the tutor is highly-skilled in the course or topic they are hired to teach. This agreement requires specific information, such as a detailed description of services the tutor will be providing and the tutor's fees, as well as the inclusion of general provisions such as intellectual property ownership, dispute resolution mechanism, and other miscellaneous provisions.
A private tutor can be used as a standard template for the clients they are tutoring. It can also be used by clients (either parents/guardians or students) who just hired a tutor. This document contains basic terms to cover the relationship between the private tutor and their client, including details of the tutoring services, how the service will be provided, the tutor's fees and payment details, and whether the tutorials will be online or in-person.
After completing the document, it should be printed, and the tutor and the client should sign it. Alternatively, the tutor and the client can sign the document electronically. After signing, both parties should keep a signed copy of this document for their record.
The general rules of contract apply to this document.
